About

Hello! My name is Rebecca and I live in the outer limits of Houston, TX. I have lived in TX for most of my life and have lived in Houston since I was 4 years old. Earlier this year, in March 2010 I married the man of my dreams. We live in our little house with my (read = our) two sons from a previous marriage and our two very spoiled dogs. So here I find myself, thirty-something with a great husband, great kids and thinking I almost got this life thing figured out. Almost. See, there is one aspect of my life that has never been “perfect”. That is my health. Well, I say that loosely because I have never been diagnosed with any type of illness or disorder. I just know I have lived an unhealthy lifestyle. For years I have been trying to jump on the health wagon and sometimes I get going really well, only to fall off again. So, this is my journey trying to keep it all together and find my balance between being a mother, wife, full-time emloyee and trying to loose a few pounds. However, this journey is more than wanting to loose a few pounds. That I know I need to do. What I want, is to find a happy medium so that my style of eating is my personal diet and not some cliche diet that is the national best seller and craze of the moment. I am not going to lie, I have tried many diets in the past. Over the years, the word “diet” has come to mean to me simply the way a person chooses to eat. It should not be unrealistic; it should be a way of life and easy to adhere to. I have just had so much difficulty changing it in to what I want it to be. It just goes to show you that everyone is different and what works for one person may not work for another.

Alas, did I mention I am of Hispanic descent? So is my husband. Unfortunately, with our bloodline that means we have such things as diabetes, cancer and heart disease in our family. For these reasons especially, I want to get my family in shape and on a healthy path.

I hope you enjoy reading our journey and perhaps it helps inspire someone else. I have been inspired by healthy living blogs for years now!
